I'd wanna see a timelapse of Doug walking in and around the car figuring out all the quirks and features before actually recording all the quirks and features
Seeing how successful his second channel "More Doug Demuro" is, I reckon it's about time untill doug lunches his second website - *"More Cars And Bids"*
The steering wheel (not to mention the display) seems a little busy for a fast car like the SF90. The display should be able to be set up when the car is idling, not moving. Also, sometimes buttons that you can locate by touch are better than ones you have to look for.
Doug on his death bed would in all probability kill anyone who got too close by inadvertently twatting them while waving his hands around like a drunken octopus.
I don't actually think that's a screen on the steering wheel. I think it's just backlit icons with a touch sensor. Notice how none of them animate, move or even change color? They just appear or disappear? If that were a proper LCD screen, those icons would be dancing, glowing, etc.
Good ol' times of MTV. Remember when putting screens on cars were dope? Now those old pimp my ride cars are being sold for shit. And yet, the car industry acts like putting screens on cars is the ultimate invention since sliced bread.
It's kinda pathetic for a car in this price range, isn't it? Those are similar to the crappy "touch buttons" we had on VCRs in the 1980'ies when they had to be "extra hightech" (Except even those had some level of feedback, e.g. backlit with different symbols to tell you their state) ... In this car, there are so many bad examples...like the control for the air conditioning? The fact that there is NO feedback on whether you pressing the busson is actually registered and you have to look at a second screen to see if you've reached the correct setting is astoundingly stupid. I absolutely loved this car until the walk-through of the interior user interface...For a car that is supposed to be "focused on the driving experience", it sure has made a lot of mind-blowingly stupid interface design decisions that will require you to take your eyes OFF the road and focus less on the actual driving because you have to try and find the control you need and fidget around to get it set right. This car, sadly, is an absolute masterclass in user interface design fail!
Exactly. The UI in this car is just about as sophisticated as your average microwave oven. Considering how quickly technology advances, imagine how quickly this interior is going to look dated. Also, touch buttons are annoying to use while driving because your hand is suspended in mid air and not anchored which makes it difficult to align with your intended target, especially as you drive over a rough road.
Been watching a lot of videos about this car daily for over 2 weeks now . But this is by far the best. Little things like the steering controls weren’t shown in the other’s. A complete breakdown of the car. Fantastic.
I feel like many of the things he calls screens are just lights with a cut out. A screen has pixels and can show different things. Those aren't screens, they're just traditional capacitive buttons with lights.
@@laurin2407 Same here. Surprising to me that a "car guy" AND RUclipsr like Doug wouldn't bother to understand what he's actually talking about 🤨 Then again, it is Doug... 😝 Not to mention that capacitive buttons (mayhaps not in cars) have been around for more than a decade 🙄
@@js0137 yeah all of the capacitive buttons remind me of android phones from a decade ago. Really unsure how this will be while actually driving a 1000 hp car, given you don't have any real tactile feedback and might need to look down to confirm you clicked what you did.
They are just haptic buttons... just like my Sony stock head unit in my Ford but behind a diffused panel that makes the buttons look blurry (at least on video but was likely done to prevent it from looking like crap with so many finger prints on the plastic surface. I really hope they are sharper than that IRL). Personally I hate them as you have to look to see what you need to push and it is easy to push the wrong thing. The ones in my ford are on a piano black surface. Jaguar / Land Rover also has been using these and they look better than this.
@@stfu4159 He might be worried about the revs. I don't know much about David or how long he's had the SF90, but it's quite possible that the car is, or was at the time of filming, still in it's 'break-in' period. Most manufacturers advise you not to exceed a certain RPM limit until you hit about 500 miles. It's also possible that they may have been short on time after Doug spent so long talking about the car and so they had to take it out with the engine and oil still cold, in which a similar RPM limit is advised until everything is up to temperature.
I only count 2 screens... Everything else he calls a screen, is just a light up button or touch pad that is behind a tinted panel so you don't see the light when it's off....
Most of the "screens " can change function based on the settings you are in. Technicaly these are not buttons since you cannot press them but only touch, and since they are illuminated, i guess its a screen
@@euge963 Crazy part is that in his own Defender, his steering wheel has a very similar functionality. Only difference is that it's activated by movement instead of it being capacitive.
@@zefnreaj3548 None of them actually change though. They may change colors, but they all display the same symbols. For example, at 7:00, you can still see the symbols even when they're not lit up. I worked for a builder who built a smart house for a customer. They had ipad type controls instead of light switches in every room. Want to turn the a/c or heat on? go to the screen. Want to turn on the lights? go to the screen. Want to go downstairs to the kitchen at 2 am? use the screen and it will use low level lighting to light your way all the way to the kitchen. Someone knock on the front door? Use the screen to see who it is and let them in. Only problem? Lightning struck about 50 m away and shorted out the system. The family couldn't leave their rooms, turn on the lights, turn on the a/c. They were effectively trapped in their rooms sweating until the site manager was able to get a tech and get out there. No thank you. really, NO thank you. I'll use a regular old door lock and a switch that goes up and down.
The home switch on an iphone 8 is not a physical switch but feels exactly like one to operate, since theres a small motor behind that “taps” back when you press it. Capacitive buttons can be cool, but only if they have haptic feedback.

The look on David's face when Doug accelerates, priceless
The man couldn't care less about what Doug has to say at that point... he like don't fuck up my car in his mind
@@nonso_nnamani I could see it on his face and how he was vaguely agreeing with Doug as he was talking
The steering wheel (not to mention the display) seems a little busy for a fast car like the SF90. The display should be able to be set up when the car is idling, not moving. Also, sometimes buttons that you can locate by touch are better than ones you have to look for.
Sometimes better?Hoe about always better.Pretty much all of these are going to be garage queens and mall crawlers anyway.
@@whoami-eb7cq I agree. Driving through London at 5mph 😂. And yes, tactile buttons ARE always better.

“Yo dawg, we heard you like screens, so we put a screen on your screen so you can screen while you screen.”
-Xzibit, Spokesperson for Ferrari
Man gotta love these typa comments on RUclips videos🤣
LOL I read it with the pimp my ride vibe
I read that with a snoop dog vibe XD
I don't actually think that's a screen on the steering wheel. I think it's just backlit icons with a touch sensor. Notice how none of them animate, move or even change color? They just appear or disappear? If that were a proper LCD screen, those icons would be dancing, glowing, etc.
Good ol' times of MTV. Remember when putting screens on cars were dope? Now those old pimp my ride cars are being sold for shit. And yet, the car industry acts like putting screens on cars is the ultimate invention since sliced bread.
But most of those "screens" aren't actually screens, just horrible cheap capacitive touch buttons with lights.
This is a gimmick Ferrari model anyway, not one that would go down in history
Everyone hates capacitive buttons like this, but Ferrari doesn't really care about customer (or haptic) feedback, do they?
@@LeicaCat especially with race car suspension like a Ferrari has
Been watching a lot of videos about this car daily for over 2 weeks now . But this is by far the best. Little things like the steering controls weren’t shown in the other’s. A complete breakdown of the car. Fantastic.
Capacitive buttons: *exist*
Doug: “SCREENS!”
Once you notice how paranoid David gets every time Doug holds the steering wheel with 1 hand you just can't unsee it.
I was watching his eyes race back and forth the whole time they drove 😂
Probably looking at the speedo
He does this every time, it's hilarious. "Oh God, Doug wants to review one of my cars again?"
@@evanroberts6347 He's got a speedo screen right in front of him on the passenger side. I'm sure you look over naturally from time to time though.
Peter Evans That’s so hilarious........and true!
The amount of times David looks at the gauge to check Doug's speed is funny
Even he has his own gauge
It’s funny to watch David glance at the tach when Doug gets on it...lol
I feel like many of the things he calls screens are just lights with a cut out.
A screen has pixels and can show different things. Those aren't screens, they're just traditional capacitive buttons with lights.
Finally! I have been looking for this comment. Thank you!
@@laurin2407 Same here.
Surprising to me that a "car guy" AND RUclipsr like Doug wouldn't bother to understand what he's actually talking about 🤨 Then again, it is Doug... 😝
Not to mention that capacitive buttons (mayhaps not in cars) have been around for more than a decade 🙄
Thank you!!
Dave always looks freaked out when Doug drives. His eyes constantly glancing at the dashboard.
Right?!?! Don't know why he just didn't put the performance monitor on the passengers screen

He looking at the dash every 2 seconds 😂😂😂
@@stfu4159 He might be worried about the revs. I don't know much about David or how long he's had the SF90, but it's quite possible that the car is, or was at the time of filming, still in it's 'break-in' period. Most manufacturers advise you not to exceed a certain RPM limit until you hit about 500 miles. It's also possible that they may have been short on time after Doug spent so long talking about the car and so they had to take it out with the engine and oil still cold, in which a similar RPM limit is advised until everything is up to temperature.
@@ZombieZen01 It looked like the car had 468 miles on it, so it was pretty close to being broken-in.
Doug, its a no no on the white T-shirt sleeves poking out under the T-shirt on top… but the kaki shorts almost allow you to pull it off.
I only count 2 screens...
Everything else he calls a screen, is just a light up button or touch pad that is behind a tinted panel so you don't see the light when it's off....
This needs more likes. It's kind of irritating, touch sensitive light buttons have been around for a while.
I would still consider them to be buttons even though they're (I'm assuming) capacitive. It's the same reason people call it the "home button" on the iPhone even though it doesn't actually move. Or on older android devices before they moved the back button into the display. It was a capacitive button that lit up with the "back symbol"

Having no tactile feedback is weird, imagine if your phone's power button was a screen, or if your wall socket had a screen to turn it on, would annoy the hell out of me lol
and that's the problem with capacitive buttons. just like my Xbox or PlayStation I'm always pushing a button I didn't intend to or, aware I even did. got to be weird in this car I think
